Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics is a four-year full-time program designed to prepare competent nutrition professionals and leaders who can address global nutrition challenges, improve health outcomes, combat malnutrition, and advance sustainable food and health systems through evidence-based nutrition and dietetic practice. The programme integrates online and face-to-face learning, providing students with flexible, interactive, and practice-oriented educational experiences.
The curriculum combines foundational biomedical sciences, nutrition sciences, food science, public health, research, and clinical practice. Students develop competencies in nutritional assessment, nutrition counselling and education, maternal and child nutrition, food security, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, therapeutic nutrition, food service management, and nutrition policy. The programme also equips learners with skills in research, biostatistics, epidemiology, health information technologies, and the application of emerging digital tools in nutrition and healthcare.
A distinctive feature of the program is its strong emphasis on experiential learning through progressive clinical and community placements in health centers, district hospitals, referral hospitals, Non- Government Organizations, and community settings. These supervised field experiences enable students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts while developing professional, ethical, and leadership skills.
Graduates are prepared to work in hospitals, health centres, public health programmes, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, schools, food industries, and community development programmes. They are also equipped to contribute to evidence-based nutrition interventions, disease prevention, health promotion, and sustainable food and nutrition systems. The programme fosters lifelong learning, innovation, critical thinking, and professional excellence, enabling graduates to meet national and global nutrition and health needs.
